Lot of five prophylactic scrolls handwritten on vellum. Text in Guezze (Ethiopian) script with illuminations.

The Christian Orthodox Church of Ethiopia was statutorily a Coptic bishopric. From the 4th to the mid-20th century, it received its metropolitan bishop from the patriarchal see of Alexandria. The Guèze language is the main language used in the liturgy of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, although Amharic (written in the Guèze alphabet) may be used in sermons or commentaries.
