Jacques-Auguste de THOU Universal history from 1543 to 1607 16 volumes in-4, marbled calf, ornate spine (period bindings). London, 1734. First complete French translation, based on the London Latin edition by J.-B. Le Mascrier, Charles Le Beau and Abbé Des Fontaines. It is decorated with an intaglio portrait of the author by Petit and a plate showing his tomb in volume XV. (Restorations to bindings, as is).
